PURPOSE:To detect an end of a ribbon always accurately, by constituting the titled construction of a ribbon cassette, a main body of a printer, a transmission- type photo-sensor introduced into the cassette and having a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element located on opposite sides of a ribbon, and the like. CONSTITUTION:An impact printer 10 is provided with a platen 14 for winding a paper 12 therearound, and a carriage 18 is reciprocated on a guide shaft 16 along the platen 14. A circular disk form type wheel 20 is rotatably fitted to the carriage 18. In this printer 10, a desired type provided at the outer periphery of the type wheel 20 is appropriately selected by rotating the type wheel 20, and the type is struck against the platen 14 through the ribbon 24 by a printing hammer 22, thereby performing printing. In said printer 10, the ribbon cassette 26 enclosing the ribbon 24 therein is fitted onto the carriage 18. |
