A beer keg comprises a container portion 1 and two end rings 2 and 3 fitted thereon, each end ring 2, 3 being of annular shape fitting closely to the side wall 4 of the container portion 1, and inwardly swaged at 12 or 13 to provide an axially locating deformation which engages the corresponding end part 5 or 6 of the container portion 1. The end rings 2 and 3 are outwardly swaged at 14 and 15 to provide rolling rings for the keg and are retained on the container portion 1 by axially extending retaining straps arranged in axially overlapping pairs 18, 19. Each strap 18 or 19 has at its non-overlapping end a formation which engages within the swaging 14 or 15 of the corresponding end ring 2 or 3. The two straps 18, 19 of each pair thereof are mutually secured by spot welding 23. To remove damaged end rings the spot welds 23 are drilled. Both end rings and straps may be re-usable after reshaping. Two pairs of diametrically opposed straps may suffice to retain the end rings on the container. Each end ring includes a plain cylindrical hoop portion 17 adjoining the rolling ring deformation and this hoop portion fits closely against the container wall except where it overlaps the straps. Preferably the end rings are of galvanised mild steel, while the straps and the container portion are of stainless steel.

|
