A tool for use in paring the outer wall of a wire-reinforced hose of a type which is used for carrying high pressure fluids. The paring tool comprises a mandrel support body (10), a mandrel (11), a radially projecting outrigger arm (12), a shank (13) carried by the outrigger arm and a cutter element (14) carried by the shank. The cutter element (14) lies parallel to and is disposed radially outward from the mandrel (11). The mandrel (11) is removeably connected to the support body (10), and the outrigger arm (12) is clamped between a shouldered end portion (17) of the mandrel and the support body (10). The mandrel (11) is made available in different sizes, to suit the bore sizes of the various hoses, and the outrigger arm (12) is moveable in a radial direction so that the cutter element (14) may be positioned at a selected radial distance from the mandrel. By simply interchanging the mandrel and adjusting the (radial) position of the cutter, the paring tool may be used for paring the outer wall of a range of differently sized hoses. <IMAGE> |
