PURPOSE:To attain low-cost and high-density recording by interrupting tracing tracking when a level of a tracking error signal reaches a preset valve or over to perform recording while an optical beam irradiating position control means is fixed to a prescribed position and performing again afterward the tracing tracking while using the track as a reference. CONSTITUTION:A caption 23 is the outermost track, i.e., the 1st track at start of recording, and captions 24A-24C are tracks performing recording while tracking, and if a disturbance of recording due to an external disturbance (d) occurs in the track recorded by the tracing tracking, the disturbance is amplified and increased by the succeeding track. The tracing tracking is interrupted when the disturbance exceeds a set value after some time and the control is restored to the initial state by providing a reference track of no control 25. The track pitch in this case is a sum of the basic pitch and the maximum tracking error of the track 24C just before. Thus, even if the track disturbance due to the external disturbance occurs, the track cross failure is prevented surely and the tracing tracking recording is continued with high density. |
