PURPOSE:To reduce the height of a copying machine body by arranging a magnetic body or permanent magnet in or near a development area. CONSTITUTION:A belt-like photosensitive body A is extended around a developing facing roll B and toner is supplied to the photosensitive body A by a developing roll C. The magnetic body D is arranged in or near the developing facing roll B. The toner conveyed by the developing roll C is therefore attracted to the magnetic body D near the entrance of the developing area to form a thick layer, and consequently the development area is widened forcibly to prolong a development time regardless of the height of the main body.
