The device for laying stones, in particular paving stones, consists of an undercarriage with three horizontal legs, which start from a common centre, and, arranged at their free ends, support and running wheels, the wheel forks of which are each rotatably mounted about a vertical axis, of an upright support column, which is rotatable about a vertical axis running through the centre of the undercarriage, with, engaging on its upper end, a jib, and of, supported on the free end of the jib, a gripping device for the stones, which can be moved up and down by means of a lifting device. At the same time, the jib comprises an inner jib arm firmly connected to the support column and an outer jib arm which is articulated pivotably movably about a vertical axis on the inner jib arm. The pivoting range is moreover limited by stops to an angular range excluding an extended and folded position aligned parallel to the inner jib arm.
