Loom comprises two weft insert grippers moved from opposite sides into the shed by picking members which are moved through the shed above the lower warp yarns. These members are guided over the race board either between the reed and transversely equi-spaced hooked pins on the board (as shown) or between two such rows of pins. - These pins are arranged such that the vertical and/or horizontal space between the pins and each member reduces progressively from the respective edge of the weave to its central region where the weft yarn is transferred from one to the other gripper.
