A central earthed body (100) is partly covered with an outer element (200) to which the lightning conductor (300) is wired. The body (100) and cover (200), spaced apart by one or more insulators (400), have facing surfaces (110,210) which form the plates of a concentric capacitor with air dielectric. Their edges (120,220) constitute the main discharge gap. The uncovered part (130) of the body is surrounded by an earthed coil (500) whose top is joined to a ring (520) facing the edge of the cover, so as to form a sec. gap. Energy stored in the capacitor (110,210) during a lightning strike is discharged periodically into the conductor (300) via the ring (520) and cover (200).
|
