PURPOSE:To obtain a contrast picture from color picture information by reading a color picture data from a table so as to obtain a synthesized value or a selecting value of color gradation and classifying the value into blocks equal to the contrast gradation number less than the color gradation number. CONSTITUTION:The color picture information transferred from a host processor 1 is fed to a color display device 2, where the information is displayed in color. The color display device 2 is provided with a color gradation table, on which the three primary colors, R, G, B are displayed respectively in 8-bit and 256- gradation. Further, the combination of R, G, B gradation is displayed in 8-bit corresponding to each address point on a picture screen. The color information obtained in this way is fed to a data converting section 3, where the color information is classified into blocks having a contrast reference value, and the density corresponding to said block is given to a print output section 4.
