An antilock control system has two ducts for the wheels on either side of a vehicle. On road surfaces with a marked asymmetrical coefficient of friction, that side of the vehicle with the higher coefficient of friction can be controlled as a function of that side of the vehicle with the lower coefficient of friction. In order to avoid excessively long braking distances, the brake pressure of that side of the vehicle with the higher coefficient of friction can then be controllably increased if the pressure reduction on that side of the vehicle with the lower coefficient of friction continues too long. According to the invention the yawing moment limitation produced by the above-mentioned circuit is rendered inoperative when cornering is detected by means of a lateral acceleration sensor.
