PURPOSE:To provide a sheet storing apparatus which can easily sort a plurality of sheets by bringing a sheet regulating plate into contact with the edge on discharge side of a sheet discharged onto a sheet catch tray. CONSTITUTION:In case of a multi-copy mode, a sheet regulating plate 6 is located at a retreat position indicated by a solid line, and a sheet discharged from sheet discharge rollers 5a, 5b is placed as it is on a sheet catch tray 3 so that a stack of plural sheets P1 is brought into contact with the wall surface of a copying machine body 1 to be properly arranged at each end portion. On completion of the first multi-copy mode, a rotary driving portion 10 is operated in response to the end signal to pivot a lever in the direction of an arrow A. Whereupon, the forward end portion 6a of the sheet regulating plate 6 is lowered and brought into contact with the sheet P1. After contacting, a rotary shaft 11 is run idle by operation of a clutch mechanism 14, and in such a condition, the second stack of sheets P2 is formed so that the end portions of sheets are brought into contact with the sheet regulating plate 6 and arranged properly. |
