PURPOSE:To make an error generating at the time of connection practically zero by forming reference surfaces on the sleeve and connection head sides and pressing these reference surfaces each other to connect them. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical part to be used as a reference at the time of connection is formed on the leading end part of the connection head 1, a recessed groove 1d is formed on the center part and a rectangular hole 12 parallel to an axis is drilled in the cylindrical sleeve 11 into which the connection head 1 is inserted and fixed. The lower two sides of the hole 12 are planes kept at 90 deg. precisely and are used as the reference surfaces of connection. A pair of connection heads 1 are inserted from both opening sides of the penetration hole 12 and their connection end surfaces are butted. The external diameters of the cylindrical parts of respective connection heads 1 are made coincide with each other precisely, and when optical fiber cores 3 are positioned on the center of the cylinders, the centers of the optical fiber cores 3 can be made coincide with each other correctly by pressing the external diameters of the cylindrical parts of respective connection heads 1 to the reference surfaces of the sleeve 11.
