PRODUCTION OF HOLLOW BILLET BY CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To reduce initial cost and to permit easy maintenance by drawing diagonally forward and upgrade a billet by using an upgrade casting mold and hollowing the central unsolidified part. CONSTITUTION:A casting mold 3 connected to a feed nozzle 4 of a tundish 2 is fixed via connecting refractories to have an upgrade axial center 17. A billet is drawn to the position higher than the level 16 of the molten metal pool 8 in the tundish 2 while said billet is cast diagonally forward and upgrade. The unsolidified part is hollowed and a hollow billet 10 is continuously produced. The construction cost of the equipment meeting the above-mentioned method is reduced and the easy maintenance is permitted.
