PURPOSE:To obtain a diazo-fixed type thermal recording material capable of forming a color with high density and having excellent preservability, by using at least one compound selected from a specified group of compounds as a coupler compound. CONSTITUTION:In a diazo-fixed type thermal recording material in which a photosensitive thermal layer comprising a diazonium salt and a coupler compound and further comprising a particulate dispersed material of an organic basic compound giving a basic atmosphere by melting when being heated as a color developer in the same layer is provided on a base, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds of formulas I and II, wherein each of R1, R2 and R3 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an 18C or lower alkyl, alkoxy, phenoxy, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, amino, alkylamino or acylamino group, R4 is a 5C or lower alkyl group, and n is 1 or 2, is used as the coupler compound. The coupler compound can be incorporated into the photosensitive thermal layer in the form of a particulate dispersed material having a particle diameter of not larger than 10mum by dissolving it in water or an organic solvent or by using a dispersing means such as a ball mill, a sand grinder and an attritor.
