PURPOSE:To provide a heat-resistant resin dust composition having improved high-speed high-temperature friction characteristics, fade-resistance and high- temperature abrasion resistance, by dispersing aromatic polyamide short fibers in cashew resin dust. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is composed of cashew resin dust and <=40wt% of aromatic polyamide short fibers dispersed in the resin dust. The short fiber is preferably the one having a diameter of 5-10mum and a length of about 0.1-2mm. and available commercially in the name of Kevlar, Cornex, etc. The resin dust composition prepared by using a prescribed amout of furfural as a curing agent has, compared with the conventional composition free from Kevlar, remarkably improved heat resistance, i.e. the weight-reduction temperature is increased by about 30 deg.C, the primary and secondary thermal decomposition temperatures are increased by 50 deg.C, and the thermal weight losses at 500 deg.C and at 600 deg.C are decreased by 15-25% and 10-25%, respectively.
