An infusion monitor for feeding liquids to patients comprises a lightweight cartridge 1 which may be easily hung on a liquid dripper 15 and has a means for sensing the flow of liquid being infused. The sensing means comprises a light beam passing through the dripper from a source to a detector via openings 26 and a concave mirror on clamp 10. The clamp 10 is spring biassed to keep the dripper located in seat 16 so that the drops will pass reliably through the beam. The drop rate is used to control a motor which operates a means for squeezing the outlet tube 27. Means for pre-setting the volume infused and the rate of infusion are provided. Means are also provided for automatically varying the rate of infusion, for automatically cutting-off the infusion and for sounding an alarm to alert an attendant if any variation from pre-set limits occur. <IMAGE> |
