PURPOSE:To improve adhesion between a gas diffusion electrode and a tile and increase durability by placing an inorganic salt mixture comprising ceramic material and electrolyte between a gas diffusion electrolyte and a tile. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic salt mixture layer 4 comprising ceramic and inorganic salt is placed between an air electrode 1 and a sintered tile 3. The same mixture layer 5 is placed between a fuel electrode 2 and a tile 3. A mixture of air and carbon dioxide is supplied from an inlet pipe 9 into a gas chamber 8 of the air electrode and exhausted from an outlet pipe 10. Hydrogen is supplied into a gas chamber 11 of the fuel electrode from an inlet pipe 12 and exhausted from an outlet pipe 13. As ceramic material, a molten salt resistant oxide such as magnesium oxide, lithium aluminate in addition to alumina is preferable. Carbonate is preferable as electrolyte. Since the mixture mentioned above becomes paste at high temperature, penetration of electrolyte into electrode and its leakage are decreased, and adhesion and durability of the tile are improved. Therefore, performance and life of a molten salt fuel cell are increased. |
