(Fig. 1) A facsimile apparatus with a sheet feeding capability to supply sheets 28 of documents and/or copy paper to a rotatable scanning drum 10. Rollers 22,42,44 advance these sheets 28 on a sheet-by-sheet 26 basis along the transport path which includes a plurality of sensors 60,72. The drum 10 is positioned so as to receive the sheets 26 prior to scanning and subsequently repositioned after scanning so as to permit these sheets 26 to be removed from the drum 10.
