PURPOSE:A base material for an oral composition, consisting of anhydrous spherical calcium hydrogenphosphate, having moderate polishing power and high cleaning effect on teeth and improved gloss imparting effect and comfortable feeling of use, and useful for dentifrice or prophylaxis pastes, etc. CONSTITUTION:A base material containing anhydrous spherical calcium hydrogenphosphate, having preferably 0.45-0.9, particularly 0.5-0.85 average roundness, 2-30mu, preferably 5-25mu average particle diameter measured by the laser scattering method and 2.5-20m<2>/g, particularly 3-15m<2>/g specific surface area (measured by the BET method) and further preferably consisting of at least >=70% calcium hydrogenphosphate crystals by the X-ray diffractometry, and useful as a base material (polishing agent) of an oral composition. The above- mentioned base material has more improved cleaning power than other polishing agents having almost the same polishing power. Stains, plaques, residues after eating, etc. can be cleaned, and a mild taste is obtained. |
