PURPOSE:To effect improved accuracy and high efficiency measurements, by arranging in a mutually opposed manner along the drum periphery of a cylinder to be measured a pair of sensors for measurement of drum step and that for lead form and measuring simultaneously with the same apparatus lead form as well as drum step form. CONSTITUTION:Sensors 71a, 71b for measurement of drum step and sensor 81 for measurement of lead form are located in LH and RH offset positions around a drum 21 of cylinder 20 to be measured for assuring vertical motions of the sensor 81 for measurement of lead form and further, the sensor 71b for measurement of drum step is allowed to stick out by DELTAl, a predetermined magnitude, in the direction of the cylinder 20 to be measured with respect to the sensor 81 for measurement of lead form and by watching an output of the sensor 71b, initial position alignment of the sensor 81 is performed. As the measurements are conducted by allowing sensors 71a, 71b and sensor 81 to contact the specified positions along the peripheral surface of cylinder all at once respectively. Simultaneous measurements of lead form and drum step can be available.
