PURPOSE:The titled adhesive having good adhesiveness to natural fibers and excellent water washing and dry cleaning resistances, comprising a specified copolyester. CONSTITUTION:A dicarboxylic acid component comprising (a) 30-60mol% terephthalic acid, (b) 5-40mol% isophthalic acid, (c) 2-50mol% succinic acid/ glutaric acid mixture (molar ratio of 1:9-9:1) is transesterified with a 2-10C alkylene glycol (e.g., ethylene glycol) and (d) 5-40mol% 6-20C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid (e.g., adipic acid), and the product is polycondensed in high vacuum to obtain a copolyester of a softening point (as determined by a ring and ball method) of 80-160 deg.C and a reduced viscosity of 0.5-1.2dl/g. A hot-melt adhesive for fiber is obtained easily by grinding the copolyester or by melting it at a temperature by 5-50 deg.C higher than the softening point and extruding the melt into a film or fiber.
