PURPOSE:To enable to apply an ink doner film to films of any color and enable to detect a position with high accuracy and without deteriorating printing quality, by applying a magnetic ink to at least a part of the surface of an ink layer, in an ink doner film for thermal transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:The ink doner film 1 comprises a non-magnetic ink layer 3 provided on a base film 2 consisting of polyethylene terephthalate and a magnetic ink layer 4 provided adjacently to the ink layer 3 and extending to the trailing end of the film. When the ink doner film 1 is taken up onto a take-up roll 8 after being let out from a supplying roll 7 and passed through a pinch roll 13 and a recording part 10, information stored in the magnetic ink layer 4 is read by a magnetic head 15, whereby position is detected. By the detection signal, it is detected that the part of the film 1 faced to the head 15 is a part proximate to the trailding end of the film 1, and supply of a recording paper 9, take-up of the film 1 and the like are stopped. Each color ink layer of a color ink doner film may be made to be a magnetic ink layer, and information such as the color may be recorded therein. |
