PURPOSE:To distribute uniformly temp. and to reduce fuel consumption by using a belt- like flame burner which can be lifted and tilted to an ignition device of a continuous type sintering machine and adjusting the height and angle of the burner according to the temp. distribution condition on the surface of a raw material. CONSTITUTION:A perforated type belt-like flame burner 7 is provided in the transverse direction of a pallet 2, and the manufacture of sintered ore is performed by firing the raw material in the pallet 2. The burner 7 is provided with lifting devices 18, 20 and tilting devices 15, 19 so that the burner can be lifted and tilted up to a specified range. The temp. on the surface of the raw material layer is measured and the temp. distribution is projected on an image device 17. The surface temp. distribution of the raw material layer, the average max. temp. on the surface of the raw material layer and the holding distance of the average max. temp. on the surface of the raw material layer are analyzed by an arithmetic device 18 for analyzing and comparing images. The results of the analysis are compared with preset respective reference values and the height and/or angle of the belt-like flame burner is adjusted in accordance with the results of the comparison.
