PURPOSE:To provide a solar pond which employs hydrated gel of aluminosilicate as thermal energy storage material, does not cause salt damage and has an excellent heat storage effect. CONSTITUTION:An aluminate (e.g. sodium aluminate) is added to an about 0.1- 10wt% aqueous soln. of silicate (e.g. sodium silicate) in an amt. of about 0.1- 30wt% of the silicate. Then an acid (e.g. sulfuric acid) or a cation exchange resin is added to the above soln. to adjust pH to about 6-8 and produce a hydrated gel of aluminosilicate to be used as thermal energy storage material for a solar pond. |
