PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet printer permitting the exact exchange of ink cartridge by using a system in which on the basis of the resistance value of each color ink having different resistance values, the correctness of exchange action of the ink cartridge is detected before connection with an ink coupler. CONSTITUTION:Each of detection electrodes 5 and 6 projected from a cartridge body 4 and an air inlet tube 9 is pressed toward connection electrodes 11 and 12, an ink coupler 13 and an air coupler 15 to fit the detection electrodes 5 and 6 into the connection electrodes 11 and 12. The resistance value of each color ink 2 having different resistance values under the same temperature and in the same volume, which is due to different dyes, is detected by the detection electrodes 5 and 6 and the connection electrodes 11 and 12 before connection to judge correctness of the exchange actions of the cartridge. |
