PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display device which has a wide angle of view and is driven with a low driving voltage by providing color filters to the internal surface of one substrate of a liquid crystal display cell, providing a transparent electrode onto the color filters with a thin transparent electrode between, and sticking this substrate to the other active matrix substrate. CONSTITUTION:The color filters 20, 21, and 22 of blue, red, and green are provided onto one substrate 1, the transparent electrode 2 is formed on the thin transparent substrate 25 corresponding to the color filters, and the substrate surface is adhered to the color filter layer with an adhesive 27. The transparent electrode 2 is coated with a thin insulating film 26, which is oriented. Thin-film transistors (TR) or nonlinear switching elements are arranged on the other transparent substrate 1 in a matrix, liquid crystal 3 is enclosed between both substrates, and polarizing plates 4 and 4 are provided to external surfaces of the substrates 1 and 1. Thus, the display device which has the wide angle of view and is free from the cracking of the color filters and transparent electrodes and driven with the low voltage is obtained. |
