A multi-blade boring head 1 for boring holes. The vanes 6 of the boring head are provided on its cutting side 7 with recesses 13 in which a cutter 11, 12 can be disengageably secured. The recesses 13 have a double wedge-shaped design in the radial direction as well as in the working rotational direction 16. The joining region between the edges of an inner and rearward contact surface 19 and 18, respectively, is recessed. The cutters 11, 12 have the basic shape of a parallelepiped with parallelogram-shaped outer surfaces. Their radial outer surface 40 is conically rounded off, their front side 45 is provided with a chip guiding step 44, and their lower surface 43 is provided with a chip-breaking groove 42. <IMAGE>
