QUICK COOLING DEVICE FOR MOLTEN METAL

PURPOSE:To control the position of a nozzle with high accuracy in the stage of charging a molten metal from the nozzle onto the surface of metallic bodies rotating at a high speed and cooling quickly the molten metal to solidify by sliding the nozzle by means of a crank to control the spacing between the nozzle and the surface of the metallic body. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 2 for ejecting a molten metal is supported by a supporting part 3. The part 3 is attached by a crank 10 to a motor 9 for driving. A slider 11 attached to the part 3 is slid along a supporting base 8 by the crank 10 actuated by the motor 9 to control the space between the nozzle 2 and the metallic body surface of rolls 1. The extent to which the nozzle 2 is moved is adjusted by attaching a limit switch to a disc connected to the motor 9 and controlling the start and stop of the motor 9.
