PURPOSE:To realize circulative cooling without waste of intermediary fluid for transmission and improve efficiency by providing, between a driving side member and a driven member of a fluid transmission device such as a torque converter and the like, a fluid pump operated according to difference in engine speed between said driving member and driven member. CONSTITUTION:When a pump impeller 5 connected directly to an engine output axis 3 is turned, centrifugal force works on oil and pushes it outside. The oil flows into a turbine runner 9 from the outside and puts it in turning. At this time, an oil pump 13 is driven according to the difference in rotational speed between the pump impeller 5 and the turbine runner 9 and, after raising the pressure of the working oil sucked in from a suction port 18 through an input oil passage 17 in an output axis 8, discharges it from a discharge port 20. This working oil is next discharged to an oil cooler via a gap 24 between axes 8 and 23. Subsequently, when turning of the pump impeller 5 and the turbine runner 9 are brought in coincidence with each other following operation of a centrifugal type direct-coupled clutch 21, operation of the pump 13 is stopped.
