The invention relates to a device for retaining the solid particles carried in the sewers by sewage. This device mainly consists of a funnel 1 supporting a bucket 2 arranged above a dirt pan 3. The bucket is held vertically by a stirrup 4 provided with immobilising tabs 5. The bucket is fixed to the funnel 1 via the curved handle 6, the manoeuvring crosspiece 8 and the hook 7. The dirt pan 3 may be brought to the surface via the manoeuvring curve handle 9. The side 3a of the dirt pan 3 is open to allow the introduction of the solid particles coming from the main sewer located upstream. This device is essentially intended for equipping gulleys which exist on urban main sewers. <IMAGE>
