Disclosed are a smart key system having a smart tailgate function and an operation method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the smart key system having a smart tailgate function comprises a first antenna, a second antenna, and an SMK electric control unit (ECU). The first antenna is mounted adjacent to the tailgate of a vehicle. The second antenna is mounted adjacent to a door handle of the vehicle. The SMK ECU transmits a first position check carrier signal through the first antenna, transmits a second position check carrier signal through the second antenna, receives a first response signal and a second response signal, which correspond to the first position check carrier signal and the second position check carrier signal, from a fob, and performs a smart tailgate function depending on the position of the fob, which is checked using the first response signal and the second response signal. According to the present invention, a false operation of the smart key tailgate function of the smart key system can be prevented. |
