<p>Wastewater (1,4,6,8,24,25,48) are treated with a powdered adsorbent (2,32,38) and one or more fixed media filters (3,9,14,23,40,42), wherein biological oxidation occurs. The adsorbent (2,32,38) is optionally regenerated and reused. In multistage operation, adsorbent (2) is contacted with wastewater (1,4,6,8,24,25,48) in stagewise countercurrent flow, through each fixed media filter (3,9,14,23,40,42) and subsequent clarifier (22,41,45), or through clarifier (22,41,45) only.</p> |
