DATA TRANSFER DEVICE BETWEEN N-MULTIPLEX STORAGE DEVICES

PURPOSE:To copy the content of a storage device to another storage device without the intervention of a central processing unit when a data bus is idle by providing a bus control section discriminating whether or not the data bus is idle and an address counter operated with a copy start signal from the central processing unit and reading/writing the data from the storage device. CONSTITUTION:The data of the bus swith is set so that the read of a storage device is conducted from a storage device MM2 during operation and the write is conducted to both systems of a storage device MM1 assembled (copied) in a new system and the storage device MM2 by allowing a command processing section actuated by the application of assembling command by the maintenance personnel to output a memory but switching instruction. Then, the central processing unit CPU transmits a copy start signal to the control section CONT of a data transfer device TRANS. When the right of bus use is ensured, the control section CONT transmits sequentially a read control signal and write control signal so as to read/write one word of the storage device MM2 by using the data buffer BUF.
