PURPOSE:To make it possible to simply perform the indication of a hydrogen storing amount by pressure measurement in a storing method for occluding hydrogen with metal hydride, by using a mixture consisting of various metal hydrides while bringing the relation of the hydrogen storing amount of said mixture and the equilibrium pressure to linearity. CONSTITUTION:As metal hydride for occluding hydrogen, a mixture consisting of several kinds of metal hydrides is prepared so that the relation of a hydrogen storing amount (H/M) to the amount of metal hydrides and the equilibrium pressure has linearity. By this method, the indication of a fuel residual amount in utilizing metal hydrides in storing hydrogen as power fuel can be simply performed by usual pressure measurement.
