PURPOSE:To eliminate cutting burr generated in the vicinity of upper and bot- tom surfaces of a steel piece in its cut end, by mutually arranging upper and lower edge and their points in a vertically symmetrical position so as to hold each steel piece therebetween and cutting off the steel piece. CONSTITUTION:A continuously cast steel piece 23 of prescribed quantity is conveyed, and if it comes to a position of cutting, a running cylinder 28 is actuated, starting the main unit of a cutting device to synchronously advance with a conveying speed of the continuously cast steel piece 23. Simultaneously with the above, a cylinder 34 is actuated to lower a tilting table 31. Then gag cylinders 21 in the upper side are actuated, adapting upper supporting rollers 21a to a surface of the steel piece 23 and holding it between the upper supporting rollers 21a and lower supporting rollers 22a with uniform force from the upper and the bottom. And then, a cutting ram 19 and a level adjusting cylinder 18 are actuated, respectively lowering and lifting upper and lower edges 24, 25 at the same speed for the steel piece 23 and causing it to be bitten with the same amount, thus the continuously cast steel piece 23 is smoothly cut by upper and lower edge points without generating any cutting burr. |
