PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound by a simple operation in high yield industrially advantageously, by reducing 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonyl chloride. CONSTITUTION:4-Hydroxybenzenesulfonyl chloride is reduced using a reducing agent of zinc/hydrochloric acid or zinc/sulfuric acid, the desired substance is extracted from the prepared reaction product by the use of an organic acid, etc., and it is purified by a conventional procedure, to give the desired substance. EFFECT:Multi-stage batch-wise reduction can be carried out by adding further a reducing agent to an extract of a reduction product with a solvent, consequently, yield is further improved.
