PURPOSE:To prepare an orientated silicon steel plate excellent in magnetic characteristics, by a method wherein a slab for orientated silicon steel containing a specific compositional amount of Si is hot rolled under a specific condition and, after cold rolling, the rolled steel is subjected to carburizing annealing and final finish annealing. CONSTITUTION:A slab for orientated silicon steel containing 2-4.5wt% of Si is heated to a temp. of 1,250 deg.C or more, more pref., heated so as to make the temp. of the rear end of the above-mentioned slab in the rolling direction higher than that of the front end thereof within a range of 200 deg.C or less in expectation of the lowering in temp. during rolling and the draft of the final pass in the rough rolling stage of the hot rolling process is brought to 30% or more while the final temp. in rough rolling is controlled with a range of 950-1,150 deg.C to perform hot rolling. Subsequently, the hot rolled steel plate is subjected to cold rolling once or two times or more so as to interpose intermediate annealing to obtain a steel plate with a final plate thickness and, after carburizing annealing, final finish annealing is applied to obtain an orientated silicon steel plate improved in magnetic characteristics. |
