<p>PURPOSE:To attain the high resolution with a relatively simple optical system by reducing optically the light, which is modulated by a light valve, with a reduction lens to form a reduced image even if the light valve which has a size to be easily formed is used. CONSTITUTION:The polarized light transmitted through a line light valve 1 is modulated in accordance with video information, and the modulated light passes a slit 11 and an analyzer 7 to become a linear flickering pattern. The flickering pattern is reduced optically to 1/8.5 by a reduction lens system 13, and the reduced light is focused on the surface of a photosensitive drum 14 to record a latent image. The photosensitive drum 14 is so arranged that the direction of its rotary shaft is orthogonal to the lengthwise direction of the line light valve 1, and the latent image of video information of a one- dimensional line having 3mm width is recorded on the drum 14. An optical head consisting of parts except the drum 14 is scanned mechanically by the same extent as resolution before the line light valve 1 is driven by following video information, and scanning is repeated to record a two-dimensional high- resolution latent image having 3mm width.</p> |
