Use of a coating device intended for coating a continuous paper web 4 whilst avoiding fogging from the coating agent after the nip between roller and paper web, which device comprises a rotating roller 1 and an elastically resilient blade 3, members for advancing the paper web through a nip formed between the roller and the blade and members for producing a coating agent surplus 9 in front of the said nip between on the one hand the blade 3 and the paper web 4 and on the other hand the paper web 4 and the roller 1, the paper web 4 being propelled at a web speed of over 400 m/min. and being bilaterally coated with a combined total of more than 14 g/m2 on both sides of the paper web and, immediately after passing through the nip 5 formed between the blade 3 and the roller 1, being drawn off over the edge of the blade 3 at an angle within the range 8-12 DEGREE relative to the tangent 6 at the point of contact between the blade and the roller. <IMAGE> |
