PURPOSE:To obtain artificially a large amont of aquacreptite from a pure white appearance to various degrees of purity by mixing silicic acid sol with Mg compd. in a specific ratio, adjusting the pH of produced Mg silicata gel, and heating it in the presence of water. CONSTITUTION:Silicic acid sol and Mg compd. are mixed in such a way that the atomic ratio of Mg to Si is in the range shown by the formula to form Mg silicate gel. After the pH is adjusted to 8-13.5 by adding aqueous ammonia or the like to form gel, it is kept up to heat at bout 80-350 deg.C in the condition that water does not evaporate to produce the crystal of aquacreptite. The crystal is filtrated and dried to obtain the objective product.
