PURPOSE:To obtain exactly an advancing direction information of a vehicle itself such as a bus, etc. in a real-time and to discriminate exactly the vehicle which goes in and out to and from a garage, by storing existence area information in an on-vehicle machine basing on the fact that communication is received from an on-road machine at a spot on a running road. CONSTITUTION:A function for storing information ''1'' regarding an existence information corresponding to the fact that a vehicle is running on a road is provided on an on-vehicle machine, and a signal is applied from an on-road machine. The stored information is rewritten to other existence area information ''0'', when the vehicle runs along a prescribed path and approaches a garage being a functionally different existence area, and communication is made to a vehicle advancing direction discriminating device provided in the vicinity of an entrance of the garage, and the vehicle goes into the garage in a state that said information is stored in the on-vehicle machine. When this vehicle goes out of the garage, and communicates again with the on-road machine on the path, a state information becomes ''1'' signifying that the vehicle is running again. In this way, the running vehicle itself holds information which is capable of discriminating the running state.
