PURPOSE:To measure exactly, easily and continuously the moldability, etc. of molding sand by charging the molding sand atop a screening mesh, dropping the screened falling sand onto a sensing plate and displacing the sensing plate. CONSTITUTION:When a specified volume of molding sand S is supplied atop a screening mesh 4, the sand S is scraped by a horizontally moving scraper 8 and the screened sand falls through the screen openings and a sand receiving chute 1 onto a sensing plate 13. When the plate 13 displaces, the deflection thereof is detected with strain gauges 15, 15a and is fed to a converter 17. The deflection is converted to the falling rate of the sand by the graph indicating the relation between the deflection and the falling rate of the sand. The falling rate of the sand is fed to an arithmetic device 19, where the falling rate of the sand integrated by every residence time is devided by the residence time and is arithmetically processed to an average value per unit (g/sec). Since the sand characteristic is continuously, exactly and easily detected by such method, the control of the sand with high accuracy is made possible. |
