PURPOSE:To enable one side of a body to be prevented from being deeply sunk at a time when desired by configurating a device in such a way that a change-over valve is provided for a passage in a base valve section located at the lower portion of a cylinder, and simultaneously either a cut-off valve or a proportional valve is also provided for a side passage which communicates a cylinder upper chamber with an accumulator. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 10 of a hydraulic shock absorber includes an upper chamber A and a lower chamber B, both of which are partitioned by a piston 20, and both an outer cylinder 12 and an inner cylinder 13 are also provided for the outside of the cylinder 10. And a passage 'a' which enables both the upper chamber A and the lower chamber B to be communicated, is provided between the cylinder 10 and the inner cylinder 13, and a reservoir C is formed between the inner and outer cylinders 13 and 12. In addition, a damping force generating section 40 which is composed of both an extension side and a pressure side damping valve 41 and 42, is also provided for a base valve section at the lower portion of the cylinder. In this case, a change-over valve 30 is arranged in the passage 'a' which is located at the base valve section 11 of the passage 'a', and simultaneously a cut-off valve 60 is also provided for a side passage 'b' which communicates the upper chamber A with an accumulator Q. |
