PURPOSE:To suppress foaming of the slag generated in a preliminary treatment by interposing a vessel which divides molten iron to plural fine streams in a falling region where the molten metal falls from the end of the tapping spout of a blast furnace into a vessel for the molten iron and dividing the molten iron to plural streams. CONSTITUTION:The molten iron 2 tapped from a blast furnace is preliminarily treated and is dropped via a tapping spout 1 toward the feed port 6 of a vessel 5 for the molten iron. A refractory tundish 3 is provided in the falling region of the iron 2 and plural holes 3a sized about 50mm.phi are opened in the bottom layer of the tundish 3. The position and number of the holes 3a are determined by taking the characteristic and thickness of slag 4 and the distance between the tundish 3 and the slag 4 in the vessel 5 into constitution to permit easy oozing of gaseous CO. The foaming of the slag 4 is thus suppressed and the overflow of the slag 4 to the outside of the vessel 5 is prevented. |
