<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the operation of an electronic dictionary, by displaying auxiliary words, numeric values, etc. related to a word to be translated and clarifying the meaning of a displayed translated word when the translated word has various meanings. CONSTITUTION:A two-stage display part 2 and a mode changeover switch 4 are arranged on a main body 1 of an electronic dictionary with a computer, and this switch 4 is slid to switch the mode to a computer mode CAL and a dictionary mode DIC. By the changeover of the switch 4, indexes of key switches 3 and 3' are changed, and functions of them are changed also. The switch 4 is switched to the dictionary mode DIC to input a word to be translated through switches 3, and a translated word of this word is retrieved and displayed on the display part 2. In this display, divisions, an auxiliary word such as verb and noun, and numbers are displayed for the word. Thus, the user discriminates the meaning of the translated word.</p> |
