PURPOSE:To prevent the adherence of marine organisms to an antifouling film by coating an antifouling agent containing as a main component an organotin compound as represented by a specific formula on the surface of a marine antifouling film. CONSTITUTION:An antifouling agent, containing as a main component an organotin compound of the general formula A...R3-Sn-X (where R is a C1-C8 alkyl or phenyl and X is an inorganic or organic acid residue, halogen, sulfur, or oxygen), is prepared. As the organotin compounds of the formula A, trimethyltin chloride, triethyltin chloride, tripropyltin acetate, tributyltin oxide, etc., may be cited. A marine antifouling film is dipped in the antifouling agent and then dried. Therefore, the adherence of marine animals and plants, e.g., Mytilus edulis, sea lettuce, etc., to the antifouling film can be prevented. |
