PURPOSE:To determine the center fix point accurately even when an ellipse or a circle has a deficiency in the contour by detecting the constitution points of outline of the ellipse or circle and determining a center fix point of the ellipse or circle basing on the constituent points. CONSTITUTION:When positional information of points of an ellipse or a circle is obtained from a picture memory M, quadratic differential DDX is determined in scanning circuits K1-K8. If there is discontinuous point, the operation of quadratic differential DDX is stopped at the point of time, and the coordinate values of the contour points of the ellipse or circle obtained till that time are sent to center fix point calculating circuits L1-L8. The center fix point is determined in the circuits L1-L8 basing on sent positional information of contour points of the ellipse or circle. The center fix point is stored in a center fix point storing section W. The center fix point that makes the distribution of center fix points maximum is selected as the center fix point of the ellipse or circle in a center fix point selecting circuit Q. |
