The aim is to create a micofiche reader having a stage which can preferably be displaced in two coordinate directions and has an operating handle, and having a lens holder, which bears in a floating fashion on the stage via arms supported in the housing, in the case of which scratches are avoided to the originals or their covers. This is achieved when the handle (10) is arranged resiliently on the stage (3) perpendicular to the plane of the stage (3, 8, 9), and actuating elements (12; 11) are mounted in its spring deflection, and a lifting device (12b; 17, 16) for the lens holder (5), which is connected to the actuating elements (12; 11), acts on the arms (7). <IMAGE>
