PURPOSE:To improve the discharge performance of an organic electrolyte battery by preparing a positive active material by purifying CuFeS2-x synthesized from FeS2 and Cu2S. CONSTITUTION:A slightly excessive amount of sulfur is added to CuFeS2-x (1< x<=0.24) synthesized from FeS2 and Cu2S, and the mixture is heated under a sealed condition to obtain CuFeS2.0 with the stoichiometric compositional ratio of a purified one. Next, 100pts.wt. of the thus obtained CuFeS2.0 is combined with 5pts.wt. of an acetylene black conductive member and 6pts.wt. of a fluorine resin binder. The thus obtained mixture is pressed and packed into an expanded nickel metal 5 so that a sheet-like electrode of 0.35mm. thickness is obtained, then it is punched into a diameter of 6.3mm., thereby making a positive electrode 4. In a battery (a) constituted by using the active material according to this invention, discharge time or capacity can be increased as indicated in the figure. |
