A domestic gas-fired water heater is equipped on its rear face, which faces the wall on which it is mounted, with a pipe for a fume anti-return device. In the region of the escape orifice of the combustion gases, which is made in this pipe, there is arranged a sheet which makes a flow of air rising in this pipe deviate from this orifice. <IMAGE>
